If you’re looking for one band to have a break out year in 2010, look no further than country-infused, folk-rock band Deer Tick. The Rhode Island-based act will release the follow up to their critically acclaimed album Born On Flag Day on June 8 when they drop their third full-length The Black Dirt Sessions via Partisan Records. The album was recorded last year in upstate New York and is said be a “deeply personal record”. John McCauley & Co. are currently giving fans a taste of what’s to come with a free download of the album’s lead single – the boozy, country lament Twenty Miles (just right click on the link or do whatever it is you Mac users do).

In other Deer Tick news, the band has also uploaded a handful of videos to their Vimeo page that they shot last year for what was supposed to be their very own Take-Away Show. While the influential music site – which captures band playing in unconventional settings – decided against posting them, we can enjoy their stripped down performances of songs from their first two albums, along with a Lightning Hopkins cover. Here they are performing Little White Lies at an indoor rifle range…

Deer Tick is currently on the road, with a scheduled stop tonight at the Conservatory in Oklahoma City, OK and will hook up with Dr. Dog on April 25, where they will hold down opening slot through the end of their tour.
