Pullin’ ‘Tubes: I Heart California

Several months before releasing Just Like The Fambly Cat in 2006, Grandaddy front man Jason Lytle unexpectedly announced that the critically acclaimed psych-folk band would be breaking up instead of touring in support of the record citing – among other things – a lack of commercial success. Lytle, who found himself moving from his lifelong home in Modesto, CA to rural Montana, continued to make music putting out his solo debut Yours Truly, The Commuter in ’09 which ended up on a number of Best Of lists.

For his  newest project Lytle has teamed up with a former band mate, as well as two members of Earlimart, to form Admiral Radley. The band’s debut album, I Heart California, will hit stores tomorrow and is said to be a love letter to their home state. Lytle & Co. recently released this karaoke-style video for their tongue-in-cheek song I Heart California…

Admiral Radley recently kicked off their cross-country tour, which continues tomorrow night with a free album release show at Amoeba Records in LA.
