Move over Wilco and My Morning Jacket, jam fans may have a new indie band to embrace – Of Montreal. While they may be best know for an insane arty stage show, nonsensical song names and the peddlers of the Bloomin’ Onion – they are also no stranger to the art of the cover song (check out this great list).
At their recent stop at Langerado the indie-popsters dug into their bag of tricks and played to their audience by offering up a pretty stellar take on the Grateful Dead’s “Shakedown Street”….

If I was ever to classify something as “post-jam” this might be example number one on my list, but then again I would probably just say it was a smart move on their part to gain some new fans who most likely had never heard of them.

Their most recent album, “Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer?” is an amazing disc.
Yeah that new is quite good. Great psychedelic indie-pop
Their live show is definitely pretty impressive, too. They bring in a little more of the scary, dark synthy stuff with the straight-ahead indie pop. Makes for an interesting mix.

The costumes and eye makeup are ALMOST a deal-breaker
