Yesterday saw the unexpected passing of ’70s soul and funk pioneer Issac Hayes at his home at the age of 65. The deep baritone voiced Hayes is probably best known for composing the theme song for the blaxploitation classic Shaft, along with releasing his landmark 1969 album Hot Buttered Soul – which contained a total of four songs. To a younger generation Hayes was more recognizable for providing the voice of Chef on South Park, before leaving the show in 2006 after their controversial Scientology episode.
