With the unexpected success of musical-drama Once, Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová – the stars of the film, found themselves in a unique position to head out on the road to perform the songs from the movie. Hansard, the longtime frontman of the Irish folk-rock band The Frames, and Irglová, who was amazingly just 17 at the time the film was made, have toured relentlessly over the last couple of years with a full band as The Swell Season – playing a mix of material from the soundtrack, Frames tunes and covers.

Capitalizing on their creative spark, the duo – who were romantically involved for a short time – have recently released their follow-up with Strict Joy a 12-track album full of their emotive brand of Van Morrison-inspired music. The Swell Season recently performed Low Rising on The Tonight Show…

The Swell Season are currently in the midst of a lengthy world tour that stretches all the way into February of next year.
