Pullin’ ‘Tubes: Oh, The Choices We Make

The morning following my birthday we headed down to Asbury Park for the School of Rock Festival, an event that could not have been more spectacularly conceived and perfectly executed. At what cost? Without the ability to dance like a spastic whiteboy in two places at once, we missed The New Mastersounds funkin’ up The Annex, and I bricked my best chance to catch one of the only bands I’m loving that I’ve yet to cross off the Gotta See ‘Em list. Weak sauce.

We actually posted a video of these seriously talented Brits a month ago in this department, but we’re going back to the well early and often. Some footage of that 6/23/07 show at The Annex has hit the ol’ YouTube website, and I felt obligated to watch what I missed in shame. This clip is entirely out of focus, and it may as well be shot by guitarist Eddie Roberts’ mother for all of his camera time, but it shows off exactly what I enjoy about their vintage sound. So get to your feet and dance awkwardly to the beat of Leeds’ finest:

Hey, West Coast: The New Mastersounds will be joined by Vinyl for a High Sierra Music Festival post-party at 12 Galaxies in SF tonight…
