Pullin’ ‘Tubes: Old Enough For Bluegrass

As we approach the end of 2009, it’s time to start thinking about the best releases of the year. For me, Consolers Of The Lonely by The Raconteurs is a disc that’s near the top of my list. There are a slew of tremendous rockers on Consolers Of The Lonely, but Old Enough grabbed me immediately and hasn’t let go since. This song has it all from tight emotional harmonies to gritty organ licks to lyrics we can all relate to.

For their latest single, The Raconteurs went into the studio with bluegrass legend Ricky Skaggs and 21-year-old up-and-coming country vocalist Ashley Monroe to record an acoustic bluegrass version of Old Enough. Autumn de Wilde, who produced the wacked out video for the original version, went behind the scenes to create a clip for the smile-inducing unplugged edition that includes a nice little tease/jam on Felice and Boudleaux Bryant’s Wake Up Little Suzie.
