Pullin’ ‘Tubes: Ray Goes The Solo Route

With three rather successful releases under his belt, Ray LaMontagne decided that he needed a change for his new studio album. The singer-songwriter, whose previous albums were all produced by Ethan Johns (Ryan Adams, Kings Of Leon, The Jayhawks), ditched outside help and fancy recording studios all together opting instead to record at his newly restored historic house in Western Massachusetts and produce the LP himself.

After two weeks of sessions, LaMontagne and his newly named band – the Pariah Dogs – walked away with their “debut” album God Willin’ & The Creek Don’t Rise. The 11-track effort mixes country and folk and is more in line with the sound of his live shows of the last few years. LaMontagne, who recently wrapped up a lengthy co-headlining summer tour with David Gray, stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! last week to perform Beg Steal Or Borrow…
