Pullin’ ‘Tubes: Remembering Frank Zappa

Today marks the anniversary of Frank Zappa’s death in 1993 and the music industry hasn’t been the same since. We would love to hear what Frank would’ve thought about Napster and the download revolution, but he was taken from us after succumbing to prostate cancer. There’s still so much interest in FZ’s music as fans have used the internet to dissect every show and recording he ever made on Zappa-focused blogs and message boards.

To celebrate Frank’s life and legacy we are going to take a look at a live version of City of Tiny Lites from 1981 featuring Ray White on vocals. City of Tiny Lites was originally released on 1979’s Sheik Yerbouti, but really cooked in a live setting thanks to FZ’s resplendent solos that both zigged and zagged generally at the same time.
