Pullin’ ‘Tubes: St. Paddy’s Day Edition
Happy St. Paddy’s Day everyone! When I was a kid it was all about Shamrock Shakes and green bagels – that’s how we Jews celebrated it at least. These days it’s all about trying to find the least obnoxious bar to throw back a few pints of Guinness, while I try to block out all the U2 that is blasting from the jukebox.

While we could go with some Van the Man, Damien Rice or The Frames, we went in a different direction. We thought something from the world’s ugliest front man – Shane MacGowan – and his band of traditional Irish folk-rockers The Pogues – really encapsulated the spirit of the day:
MacGowan and Co. are wrapping up their run at New York’s Roseland Ballroom tonight with William Elliot Whitmore and Ollin. Tickets are still available.

MacGowan was his (lovable?) self last night for the second of three nights at Roseland. He spun himself into a dizzy-induced fall just three songs into their set. But hey, what else did you expect? The surprise of the night was Billy Bragg’s great opening set and the guest appearance of Kate Nash for his last three songs.

So you thought about putting up some Van the Man, but went in a different direction.
Way to think it through….

Clearly. What was I thinking! We do love our Van here though.
