Pullin’ ‘Tubes: The McLovins – Hell Yeah
2009 couldn’t have worked out much better for our friends The McLovins. Not only did they play their first gigs in New York City and Boston, they also scored a spot at Gathering of the Vibes and released their first album.

The year isn’t over yet and the Connecticut-based trio has got at least one more trick up their proverbial sleeves. Jake, Jason and Jeff unveiled a “brand raging new” (their term) original called Hell Yeah last Friday night at Troy’s Revolution Hall where they were opening for Max Creek. Hell Yeah veers more dark-prog than some of the boys’ other originals. Check it out…

Their sound is influenced more of a Conglomerate of many, many influences, especially jazz & funk. So ya can say, actually they are more mclovins influenced, than Phish or UM. AND the vocals have already come a long way…If ya have seen them live, u would see(hear) how well the vocals are conveyed. I understand that sometimes the live recording on YouTube,Live archives, etc the vocals come out a bit raw..But on the studio recording, Conumdrum and in person, that is not the case at all…These guys are the real deal, and r extremely talented..

i understand what sammy was saying, but have to agree with barry. when i saw them about a year ago they were good, but maybe good “for their age”. my husband and i saw them just last saturday in collinsville, and they have honed their craft considerably in the intervening months — including their vocals. they are incredibly talented, and moreover an absolute joy to behold when performing. their music captured a crowd ranging in ages from 4 to 54 — based on my scan of the all ages crowd. and, when they left the stage, it was huge smiles and hugs all around from friends, family and fans.

A friend of mine actually told me about this band. At first I thought it was some kind of a joke band from Superbad, but they are actually a lot better then I originally expected!
