RecommNeds: Delicate Steve / Chris Forsyth
I hope you enjoyed last week’s pair of instrumental albums. Here’s a follow up set of more of the same left field guitar goodness, so dust off the headphones, we’re going in…
Delicate Steve: Positive Force

What a perfectly named album! Steve Marion’s guitar – an all-in-one guitar/slide/dobro sound – is nothing if not a positive force. The music on this album is smile-inducing, instrumental perfection; the upbeat soundtrack to the blue skies of the dwindling summer days. Listen to it now while there’s still some August left and return to it again when the days are short and you need a few rays of slide guitar sunshine.

Chris Forsyth: Kenzo Deluxe

This EP is essentially listening in on psychedelic guitar master Forsyth’s long bouts of introspective noodling, but that ain’t a bad thing. The highlight here for me is the track Downs and Ups which is somewhat akin to listening to 1974-vintage Garcia teeter on a tightrope patiently between verses of a sweet melodic Dark Star for about 10 minutes. And the rest of it ain’t bad either.
