Camp Bisco took place this past weekend in upstate New York, and to mark the passing of the event this week’s Stormy Mondays features a single track of old school Disco Biscuits: Above the Waves from February 3, 1999. The song had only been played a handful of times when this 35-minute version erupted in the middle of a first set in Raleigh.
Layered with echo effects, some very dark tones and manic moments when the song almost gets away from the band, it was part of the Plan C archives series back in the day, where fans could receive one of five free compilation discs from the band. It’s a great look back at the group when it was on its first great rise from clubs to theaters, and a hot jam to boot. Enjoy!
