SummerStage and Celebrate Brooklyn! 2010

The summer concert season is quickly approaching and there’s no clearer sign of its pending arrival than the lineup announcements for NYC’s Central Park SummerStage and Celebrate Brooklyn! at the Prospect Park Bandshell.

SummerStage celebrates its 25th Anniversary this summer with an eclectic lineup of both free and benefit concerts. Free shows of interest include The Specials on August 22, the stars of The Daily Show providing some comedy on July 21, new Rock Hall inductee Jimmy Cliff on July 11, the XX on August 8 and Public Enemy on August 15. Benefit concerts include the previously announced four Pavement shows on September 21-24, the Flaming Lips doing Dark Side on July 26, Ween on September 17 and Gov’t Mule on August 11. As for Celebrate Brooklyn! at the Prospect Park Bandshell, that program’s season begins on June 9th with a performance by Brooklyn’s own Norah Jones. Free shows include NoLa legend Allen Toussaint with Davell Crawford on June 12, Bitches Brew Revisited (featuring Marco Benevento and DJ Logic among others) on June 19, Ozomatli on July 9, The Roots on July 11, Sonic Youth on July 31 and a Night With Daptone Records on August 7. The four benefit shows will feature Passion Pit on June 29, Rufus Wainwright on July 20, The National on July 27 and Dead Weather on August 3.
