TAB @ Terminal 5: Setlist

The Trey Anastasio Band’s Winter Tour hit New York City tonight for a one-off show at Terminal 5. Down With Disease, Camel Walk and Meatstick saw action for the first time this tour in the acoustic set with Camel Walk the only tune of the three Anastasio had performed unplugged in the past.

Once again, there was banter a plenty including Trey dedicating Camel Walk to Jon Fishman – who was said to be vacationing  in Morocco, Big Red espousing his love for Limb By Limb and getting a few minor details wrong in his introduction of Russ Remington. All of TAB joined in for the last three tunes – Heavy Things (first acoustic version), the Trey/Tom original Peggy and another take on Outkast’s Hey Ya!

For the second set, TAB offered a wide variety of covers including In The Wee Wee Hours by Professor Longhair, It Makes No Difference by The Band, Gorillaz’s Clint Eastwood and the debut performance of the Alicia Keys’ version of Empire State of Mind. Anastasio called out to fellow Upper West Sider Amanda Green after tackling Burn That Bridge, which he co-wrote with her. Trey then explained that “if you enjoy that type of music, you’ll enjoy [the musical he’s co-writing with Green] Hands On A Hard Body” before launching into the TAB debut of Problem Right There.

  1. thanx to the Yemblog/HT twitter update team from T5.

(sparing a sign @ show) I’m pleading on the HT to Please Trey/TAB, bustout Billy Preston in Pittsburgh this Friday!

    Great tour so far!

  2. No way Fishman is is Moracco, I think it was only said because of the tour video.

Thank you Trey for doing what you do! You have truly taken my level of musical appreciation to new heights I didn’t even know existed!
    Thank you

  3. He did say it went out to Fishman because he was in Morocco, where, presumably, he shot the summer tour video.

Yes, Empire State the Jay-Z cover. They only did the Alicia Keys part, though, with Jennifer [wo]manning the pipes. It was pretty fun, as was Hey Ya first set, and Clint Eastwood earlier in the 2nd.

  4. Jen sang the “concrete jungle” version of the chorus, thereby making it the Alicia Keys version of the song and not the Jay-Z “I’m becomin'” version.
The correct title of the song should be “Empire State of Mind (Part II) Broken Down.”
