Tour Dates: Robert Plant Presents The Sensational Space Shifters

Written by on 04.23.2013 | Robert Plant, Tour Dates

Over the last month Robert Plant and his latest band, The Sensational Space Shifters, have been appearing on a handful of festival bills, including the ones for High Sierra and the inaugural edition of JamBase Live. So it just seemed like a matter of time before the former Band of Joy front man would drop a full slate of North American dates to keep him busy between fest slots. Yesterday we got just that, as news surfaced that Plant & Co. have lined up a 16-date headlining run that kicks off at the Palladium in Dallas on June 20, and wraps roughly a month later with a gig at Brooklyn’s Prospect Park Bandshell on July 27.

If you’re not into a night with Plant, then maybe you’ll be interested in hitting one of these recently announced tours…

Bloggy Goodness: Dave Grohl, Blues Traveler, Jakob Dylan & More on Marc Maron’s WTF with Marc Maron Podcast

We’re big fans of Marc Maron’s fantastic podcast WTF with Marc Maron around these parts. The comedian turned talk show host, has built his reputation around his very personal narrative, self-deprecating and self-analyzing humor, that often times involves stories about his cats, love life and past struggles in the comedy business. Maron’s podcasts typically feature interviews with comedians and actors, but over the last few weeks Marc has invited a number of musicians to stop by for some highly entertaining chats that we wanted to recommend. Marc’s recent episodes with Blues TravelerJakob Dylan and Adam Schlesinger (Fountains of Wayne), all feature some great stories that are well worth blocking out some time to sit down and listen to. Today, Maron uploaded his most recent episode which features an interview with Dave Grohl, which we’re sure is a must-listen as well.

Since opening the doors of his Third Man Records store in Nashville back in 2009, Jack White has made vinyl lovers drool with innovative releases. Earlier this week White revealed the latest project from his label, as Third Man is teaming up with the fine folks at Document Records for a new reissue series that will document the complete recorded works in chronological order of an artist. Volume one of this series is set to feature the earliest works of revered blues artists Charley Patton, Blind Willie McTell and the Mississippi Sheiks. Here’s some more info via Third Man Records…

Tour Dates: Spend A Night With Norah

Written by on 03.27.2012 | Norah Jones, Tour Dates

Though Norah Jones built her reputation with a string of soccer-mom friendly albums, the singer-songwriter doesn’t want you to think that she’s not hip. In fact, it seems that she wants to hammer that point home by teaming up with “IT” producer Brain Burton, aka Danger Mouse, for her latest studio album Little Broken Hearts, which hits stores on May 1 via her longtime label Blue Note Records. While Jones and Burton originally began working together on the record back in 2009, it wasn’t until the duo reconvened last summer, when Jones came armed with a stack a emotionally charged songs steaming from a break up, that things came together. Jones will headed out on a 32-date world tour that kicks off on May 25 with a gig at the Olympia Theater in Paris, and includes a stop at the world famous Ryman Auditorium on June 24 and a hometown gig at New York City’s Central Park Summerstage on July 3.

If you’re not into a night with Norah Jones, then maybe you’ll be interested in hitting one of these recently announced tours…

Tour Dates: I Wanna Rock

Written by on 06.02.2010 | Rock The Bells, SCI, Tour Dates

For those of you out there looking for something a bit different than the rock-heavy festivals this summer, look no further than the hip hop-centric Rock The Bells series. Now in its seventh year, the traveling tour is currently scheduled to hit four cities this year – two on the East Coast and two on the West – and features a diverse selection of old and new school acts from the Wu-Tang Clan and KRS-One to Brother Ali and Jedi Mind Tricks.

For the first time in the event’s history the headliners will perform their most influential albums in their entirety, and we’ll see Wu-Tang tackling 36 Chambers, Rakim doing Paid In Full, Slick Rick doing The Great Adventures Of… and KRS-One taking the mic for Criminal Minded. There have also been heavily circulating rumors that both Lauryn Hill and A Tribe Called Quest will be joining the bill to perform classic albums, to fill the TBD slots.

If you’re not into a full day of live hip hop, than maybe you’ll be interested in hitting one of these recently announced tours…

Finally, the String Cheese Incident will play host to their very own festival at Hornings Hideout in North Plains, OR to take place on July 29 – August 1. The band, who will headline each night, have recently announced the initial lineup of bands that will join them over the course of the weekend.
