Setlist: Anchor’s Away For Ween @ Hammerstein

Considering the inauspicious start Ween got off to this year in Vancouver, we didn’t have high hopes for our favorite purveyors of brown in 2011. Yet the New Hope natives have persevered and continue to string together outstanding performances. The group’s latest show took place at the Hammerstein Ballroom last night where all the members besides drummer Claude Coleman dressed as sailors. Claude apparently wasn’t having any of that and dressed as Rick James.

Ween pulled from every era of their lengthy career to formulate last night’s setlist and played some of their best-known songs including Voodoo Lady, Piss Up A Rope, Push Th’ Little Daises and Roses Are Free in front of a capacity crowd in Manhattan. The group stuck mainly to originals with the notable exception of Let’s Dance by David Bowie. Next up for Ween is a three-night New Year’s run at Denver’s Fillmore Auditorium.
