The B List: Songs of Summer ‘07
The summer has been incredibly kind to Hidden Track. Both Ace and I have seen a ton of good shows, and we’ve both come across some great music that we’ve shared with our readers. Before the season officially ends, we’re gonna point out the tracks that helped us beat the heat. This week’s B List pays tribute to 10 songs that really stood out to us this summer…

10. On July 13th Ace previewed two exclusive, unfinished tracks from A Big Yes and a small no, including I’m Always Manic
9. One of my favorite shows of the summer was the Crowded House performance at the Masonic Lodge on July 21st where they played a bunch of new material; the best of these was the frenetic She Called Up

8. On July 20th Ace came across an amazing video of 1,500 plus incarcerated inmates performing Michael Jackson’s Thriller

7. Ace told us we needed listen to Alberta Cross on September 7th, and he was right…the track Hard Breaks has been in rotation on my iPod ever since
6. Nothing beats cruising around lower Manhattan on a Rocks Off cruise while listening to one of our favorite bands. I particularly enjoyed the Ryan Montbleau Band’s cruise on August 31st

5. This summer was the first summer off the road for former 70 Volt Parade lead singer Trey Anastasio since 1990. His lone public appearance was at SPAC where he joined the Dave Matthews Band for Lie In Our Graves on August 14th.
4. Both Ace and I sweated our asses off during the Beastie Boys’ epic performance at Central Park’s Summerstage on August 8th
3. Marco Benevento recently released the three-disc Live From Tonic culled from the best of his performances during a run at the legendary club in November ‘06. Ace spoke with Marco on August 8th about the album, the closing of Tonic and much more

2. Ace had the time of his life at the Austin City Limits Festival last weekend. One of the highlights he mentioned was seeing Wilco perform Jesus Etc.
1. The Police reunion tour was the biggest event of the summer. I finally got to see them rock MSG on August 1st, and from the minute Message In A Bottle started I was mesmerized
So what did you listen to this summer? Let’s hear it in the comments…

Thanks for this retrospective post. Having been gone from civilization all summer, I missed out on a lot of this stuff (especially amped to groove out to some A BIG YES… and a small no).
