Last night in Los Angeles, future Phish bassist Mike Gordon invited Puff Daddy’s former Umbrella Holder Fonzworth Bentley to join his band at The Roxy to perform one of Bentley’s originals titled Brawlin’. While this is certainly an odd match, we’re never surprised when it comes to Cactus.
Gordon and Bentley met in Vermont, where according to the recently published Jambands.com Reader’s Interview they “collaborated”:
I have contemplated covering Fonzworth Bentley because I’ve just been doing some collaborating with him. He’s almost more known as a dancer and he has his own MTV show but he’s got his own music. He was P Diddy’s assistant originally but he’s got his own career going and his own album and he actually came to Vermont. He’s somebody maybe not as obscure but obscure in the jambands world because I like drawing from all sorts of unexpected sources.
Hopefully Bentley passed along some fashion tips to ol’ Gordo as he attempts to turn him From G to Gent. Here’s a look at last night’s setlist:

it would be even cooler if cactus collab’ed w/ the Tangueray british baby.
‘how do you tangueray baby?”
also, if you’re at this show and Fonzworth Bentley comes out, are you and your boys saying, “Oh snap?….oh yeah. I can’t believe it. I so, totally called this!…yeah Fonzworth!”…
just wondering.
THE GOFF! Where have ya been? Missed ya around these parts.
RE: Tangueray Baby
I’m pretty sure Mike is avoiding contact with small children these days…
Pretty awesome. I guess I should have expected something after the Mike Interview.
Can’t wait to see Mike live.

12 songs? is that a typical set or was it a short show? didn’t he play 2 sets the other day?
Brawlin’ was 45 minutes and included a butter jam, a fatman jam and two Can’t You Hear Me Knockin’ teases 😉
