Last year we introduced you to the lush indie-folk music of Portland, Oregon’s Blind Pilot. While the duo gained notoriety for their bike tour last year, the band will be using quicker modes of transportation when they embark on a cross-country tour that kicks off in their hometown on March 5 at Mississippi Studio and includes multiple shows during SXSW and a stop at NYC’s Mercury Lounge. The group makes their network television debut with a performance on Last Call with Carson Daly that airs on Feb. 10.
If Blind Pilot isn’t hitting a city near you, than maybe one of these recently announced tours will be…
- HT faves Dr. Dog will spend the month of April on the road (begins: 04/03)
- Mountain Goats & John Vanderslice head out for a joint tour (begins: 03/18)
- Death Cab For Cutie will be joined by the Cold War Kids, Ra Ra Riot and Matt Costa on their spring trek (begins: 04/07)
- Emotive singer/songwriter Ray LaMontagne lines up new dates (begins: 04/02)
- Indie-rock stalwarts Modest Mouse head out for a brief run (begins: 02/22)
- Marilyn Manson and Slayer team up for the Mayhem Festival this summer (begins: 07/10)
Finally, bassist extraordinaire Les Claypool has assembled quite the interesting tour that he will take across the country this March. Dubbed Oddity Faire – A Mutated Mini Fest, Claypool will be joined by Saul Williams, Yard Dogs Road Show, Devotchka, Secret Chief 3, O’Death and Mutaytor who will take turns filling the opening slots during the 18-city jaunt, with the majority of the stops featuring three opening acts. The tour kicks off in San Diego on March 4 and wraps up at Terminal 5 in NYC on March 28.
