Patterson Hood sure likes to keep busy. After releasing albums in back to back years with his full time band the Drive-By Truckers, the front man for the hard touring Southern rock act will release his third solo record Heat Lightning Rumbles in the Distance on September 11 via ATO Records. Hood, who showcased material from his upcoming album earlier this summer with a handful of dates, will head out with his backing band the Downtown Rumblers for a full-on North American tour this fall. Starting off with an appearance at the Jomeokee Music and Arts Festival in Pinnacle, North Carolina on Sept. 14, the 20-date run will include a two-night stop at Chicago’s incarnation of the City Winery (Sept. 22 & 23), and a tour ending high profile slot at the Austin City Limits Music Festival on Oct. 12.

If you’re not into a night with the Drive-By Truckers front man, then maybe you’ll be interested in hitting one of these recently announced tours…
