Trey Anastasio Announces Acoustic/Electric Winter Tour

Trey Anastasio announced today a two-week tour opening Friday, February 18th at the newly re-opened State Theater in Portland, ME and closing 15 days later on Saturday, March 5th at Oakland’s Fox Theater. The band lineup is identical to the band that toured last February and most recently played at the Hangout Festival in May of 2010: Tony Markellis on bass, Russ Lawton on drums and Ray Paczkowski on keyboards as well as a three-piece horn section featuring Jennifer Hartswick, Russ Remington and Natalie Cressman.

The biggest surprise of the announcement was the format…

The shows will also feature a full solo acoustic set from Trey along with a full electric set marking the first time that Trey has toured in this format since 1999.

The first five dates of the tour will be repeat visits for the various incarnations of the solo band over the years, but the remaining shows in six different cities will all be brand new rooms for Trey.

the palace when trey returned (not so long ago phans…don’t forget, this was pre-Phish’s return announcement) was a magical environment. we drove to Higher Ground the next day and witnessed another great TAB endeavor.

year-2 w/ this lineup gellin like magellan and throw in a great forum for Trey’s real, true passion w/ an acoustic set equals him watching us truly appreciate his chops night in and night out.

albany, philly, pittsburgh (been to the others for TAB shows but prolly most excited for the Steel-town date!)
