Trey Anastasio Band: Portland Setlist

Trey Anastasio and his solo band kicked off a 12-show solo tour last night at the State Theatre in Portland, ME returning to the format of his 1999 jaunt – one set acoustic and one set electric. Big Red eschewed the Phish favorites he often plays on acoustic, digging deeper into the Phish repertoire for songs you wouldn’t quite expect unplugged such as Suzy, Cavern and Theme.

Towards the end of the set, Anastasio welcomed members of his solo band in various formations ending with entire band versions of his own Liquid Time and Outkast’s Hey Ya!.

For the electric set, Trey offered a variety of material from throughout his solo career including the first tour (Mozambique, Gotta Jibboo, Sand), the early 2000’s tours (Cayman Review, Plasma, Push On Through The Day), the 70 Volt Parade years (Words to Wanda, Wherever You Find It, Tuesday) and the more recent tours (All That Almost Was, Birdwatcher, Alaska).  For the encore, Anastasio dusted off his cover of Professor Longhair’s In The Wee Wee Hours before finishing with the GRAB-written Dragonfly.

  1. I honestly couldn’t believe that this was a tour opener. The band was SO hot and dialed in–anyone who gets to see them this tour is in for a treat. The peak in Push On Til The Day was unreal, and I’ve never heard a room explode so loudly because of it. Just awesome to see Trey and the band having so much fun.
