It has become tradition that each year Umphrey’s McGee asks fans to submit their favorite musical moments from the previous year and assembles them for a “Hall of Fame” compilation. This year there’s a nice twist as in addition to digital recordings and on-demand CDs, UM has offered Hall of Fame 2011 as their first ever limited edition, split color vinyl which will be available through MusicToday.

We’ll be celebrating the release of Hall Of Fame: Class of 2011 all week long as tomorrow we’ll share audio from the release, on Wednesday we’ll discuss the compilation with UM strategist Kevin Browning and on Thursday we’ll have a really cool giveaway for our readers.

UM has also found an innovative way to deal with the vinyl test pressings as each band member has customized, numbered, and signed 15 vinyl test pressings in their own unique style. For example, Brendan Bayliss hand wrote song lyrics on his, keyboardist Joel Cummins shared photos from his European Vacation while drummer Kris Myers’ copies feature sheet music. These test pressings, pressed on red vinyl in honor of the band’s top Hall of Fame track, Red Tape, are being auctioned off. The auctions started last week and continue until Friday with some proceeds going to the charity of the bidder’s choosing. Head over to Umphrey’s recently re-launched blog to bid.
