Umphrey’s Plays (Big) Gigantic Bonnaroo Set / Reveals New Year’s Plans – Four Night in Atlanta @ Tabernacle
Just before 6AM Umphrey’s McGee left the stage at Bonnaroo’s That Tent following a massive three and a half hour set that saw a full band segue with Big Gigantic and a mix of potent material from throughout the Chicago-based sextet’s career. The set relied on high-energy rockers, with the beautiful Hajimemashite (as the sun came up) and more groovy Booth Love thrown in to keep things balanced. Towards the middle of the performance, as a setbreak of sorts, Big Gigantic’s Dominic Lalli and Jeremy Salken switched out with the members of UM for a song, continuing a full band segue tradition that dates back to Umphrey’s memorable Bonnaroo ’04 set.

At one point during the monster set, the band revealed the location of this year’s New Year’s Run. Umphrey’s will play their first-ever four-night NYE Run at The Tabernacle in Atlanta, a venue that has hosted many memorable UM performances in the past. This marks the second year in a row the sextet will venture outside of their hometown of Chicago, following last year’s three-night affair in St. Louis. Expect more details to be announced over the coming months.
