Van Halen Dates Officially Canceled

Back in May, Van Halen announced the postponement of 31 North American tour dates after both Eddie Van Halen and David Lee Roth felt the band had “bitten off more than they could chew” in performing 48 shows in just a few months. At first the group expected to make up the dates later this year, but as Pollstar reports the plan has changed – the 31 shows have now been officially canceled.

Van Halen currently has no future shows scheduled, though Eddie recently told USA Today that the band would head to Japan in November and might “possibly do something special” towards the start of 2013. For our part, we hope this reunion isn’t over, that the band members were sincere when they said the cancellations were due to exhaustion.  Van Halen impressed during the first 48 shows by dusting off rarities and engaging the audience every night.

  1. Saw them in oakland after falling in love with the new album. Hard to find YouTube evidence to support this, but Dave was a shitshow. He hardly ‘sang’, rather spoke words at semi-opportune times. Several stories felt like lectures about how i ought to date strippers. Frankly, it’s for the best that they regroup.

As a die hard Phish fan, I demand flawless vocals…
