We can’t get enough of The A.V. Club’s Undercover series, which debuted back in March and has continued impressed with fantastic takes on a diverse swath of covers ranging from Fleetwood Mac to The Decemberists to Harvey Danger. For the last handful of weeks the series took a bit of detour offering up their Summer Break edition, which they let artist pick their own song to cover that reminded them of summer. The series has featured the likes of Kelly Hogan, Eef Barzelay (Clem Snide) and The Dandy Warhols tackling The Hold Steady, Bryan Adams and Eddie Cochran respectively.

The series kicked off at the end of July, with a truly awe-inspiring, stripped down acoustic take on The Band’s The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down by a trio of extremely talented singer-songwriters from Ireland and England – Glen Hansard, Lisa Hannigan and John Smith – which was recorded at an antique store in Chicago. Let’s check it out…
