Behind the veil of a collaborative science project with daughter Panda, the first video from Kimya Dawson‘s forthcoming album tackles some heavyweight material. While the former half of the Moldy Peaches is best known for her whimsical lyrics and cherub-like vocals, this song speaks to an apocalypse event and the visual the imagery gets rather haunting when the makeshift volcano erupts, leaving viewers to imagine the toy animals being smothered in hot lava. It’s a far cry from video game cheat codes and tire swings, but it’s quite powerful as well. The album, entitled Thunder Thighs, is due out next Tuesday.
