The boys of Tenacious D will be the first to admit that their foray into the world of adapting their quirky brand of acoustic-folk-metal into a major motion picture with Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny didn’t quite pan out the way that they had hoped. In fact the movie basically bombed, earning roughly $8.2 million at the box office, while costing in the ballpark of $22 million to make. Using that experience as inspiration, Jables and Kage will release their third studio album, Rize Of The Fenix, next Tuesday – which you can currently stream now. Last week The D dropped the video for the album’s title track, which features their signature brand of tongue-in-cheek, self-deprecating lowbrow humor we’ve come to love from these guys.

Let’s check it out…

Tenacious D will embark on a lengthy world tour, which kicks off with an appearance at the Santa Barbara Bowl in Santa Barbara, Calif. on May 23 and is scheduled to run through July.
