Members of the influential e-mail list the NYC-Freaks celebrate 12 years of tastemaking this weekend at Brooklyn Bowl. For the 12th installment of Freaks Ball, the group will offer two nights of music. On Friday, Portugal The Man and Sam Champion share the bill, while Saturday night’s performance will feature a band put together especially for the gig called Freaks Ball-stars.
Among the talented musicians taking part in the Freaks Ball-Stars performance will be Marco Benevento (GRAB, The Duo), Joe Russo (Furthur, The Duo), Eddie Roberts (New Mastersounds) and Ron Johnson (Warren Haynes Band). Of particular note are the two guests for this set who will be Warren Haynes making his first Freaks Ball appearance and Eric Krasno of Soulive and Lettuce fame. Russo will also perform as part of an opening set along with Scott Metzger, Hagar Ben-Ari and Eric Deutsch. While tickets to Friday night’s show are sold out, tickets for Saturday’s gig go on sale at 3PM ET.
