Warren Haynes: No Rest For The Weary

The shitty state of our economy has hit many people differently, but Warren Haynes is one guy who isn’t hurting for work.  We’re not even 24 hours into 2009 and besides the Dead dates that we told you about the Allman Brothers Band have just announced the dates for their annual Beacon Theatre run in March. The Allmans return to the historic venue on Manhattan’s Upper West Side on March 9-10, 12, 13-14, 16-17 and 19-21.

The Allmans plan to celebrate their 40th Anniversary with this run of shows. Gregg Allman told in an Billboard Magazine that the band plans to invite special guests that have played a role in the band’s history. Jambands.com, another site that doesn’t believe in taking off for holidays, speculates that Eric Clapton and Dickey Betts may join the band. How sick would that be? I’d also like to see former Beacon guests Chuck Leavell, Peter Frampton, John Popper and Bernie Williams sit in.

So let’s go over what Warren Haynes has in store for 2009: Cap’t Soulshine starts the year with Gov’t Mule’s Kinder Revolution tour on Feburary 6. On February 20, Warren heads to Chicago for a couple of solo shows. After that, he heads to New York City for the Beacon run, which we’re sure will be extended beyond the dates announced today. The Dead tour awaits in April and lasts until May 10 at the absolute soonest. With the Allmans sure to play this summer and Warren’s devotion to the Mule, he’s on pace to play 150 shows next year. Better enjoy your January off, big guy.
