Widespread Panic Localizes in Cleveland
Our friend Neddy earlier today pimped out a typically wordy and awesome review of Widespread Panic’s April Fool’s show at the Palace Theater in Albany. And since we’re showing off some words about that 4/1 concert, we might as well go all out and present some pictures from the night before in Cleveland.

Our friend Christian James took in the 3/31 show at the Playhouse Square Center State Theatre in Cleveland. And, as they say, Cleveland rocks.

Read on for 15 more of Chris’ amazing shots from Saturday’s WSP show…
We’ll lead off with a classic JB pose…

Savior Jimmy Herring lets his presence be known

Panic’s been awesome since Horatio Sanz took over for Schools

Get back, JoJo

Sunny goes bangin’ on shit

Vice President Nance is a good man (anyone with me on that quote?)

A Cleveland crowd stands eerily still

Who’s that on stage in between JB and Schools?

The Soul Patrol…it’s Taylor Hicks! OMG LOL ROFL WTF, etc.

Hicks came out for Stop Breakin’ Down Blues

The Other Side of Schools

The duet to end all duets…

“Hey, JoJo, let’s go bang the broads Hicks brought with ‘em…”

Is that a cross or a Pez dispenser around his neck?

Time to go home…no more dancing like a drunken chicken, kidz

Seems like it was quite a weekend for Widespread Panic…bring that shit back to Radio City some time in the fall. I’d enjoy that.

Great pics, Chris…and great captions, Ace. Oh, thanks.
As they’d say on the Phantasy Tour: “Hicks’d” or possibly “Soul Patrol’d”
I guess better him than that creepy mohawked kid with the eyebrows that look like he stole from NY1’s George Whipple. (Did any of you catch Andy Samberg’s impersonation of him singing “You Really Got Me”? Anything that Samberg does turns to gold. Anything everyone else touches turns to, well, crap. I mean, I can’t wait to see the incriminating pictures of Lorne Michaels that Maya Rudolph must have. She is in everything and I actually get angry watching her. As Rick Pitino would have said: “She stinks and sucks and stinks.”)
I have followed Widespread since 1992,the spirit of Mikey is back with Jimmy stepping in and ripping it up! I went to the New Year’s Eve show in Atlanta,Ga. Brought tears to my eyes, watching everybody up there loving it playing music like it should be full of what they are all about!!!Kind folk living like they want to live just as long as you do’nt hurt anyone, treat people like you want to be treated, you know karma.I love these guys and take it from someone who has played in my first drum circle with Sonny 75 minutes before last 4-20-06 show in Raleigh N.C.they’re just like us kind folk.If they ever pass through the Outer Banks in N.C. come on over and have a beer.Your Devoted Fan,Lovely Lilly
Man!!!!! Taylor Hicks just can’t go anywhere unless he is asked to participate on the stage. It seems that everywhere he goes he is reconized and he does not disappoint…..
These pictures are sensational. I am so glad that Taylor got to play with WSP. He is an awesome harp player. Thank you for making these pictures available. The show looks like it was just awesome.
Thanks again.

Taylor Hicks was in a WP cover band in college. Must be a dream come true for him. I played on the same stage in 2004 that they played on in 1987 at the Rookery in Macon, Ga. That made me feel “special”. Wonder what it feels like to actually jam with ‘em!!!
