During Wilco’s show at the Orpheum in Boston, frontman Jeff Tweedy broke the news that Wilco will be throwing their own festival this summer. The Solid Sound Festival takes over the campus of MASS MoCA from August 13 – 15 in the Western Massachusetts town of North Adams. Wilco will headline each night and curate the event which will include performances from the group’s numerous side projects such as The Autumn Defense, On Fillmore, The Nels Cline Singers, and Pronto with more acts to be announced soon.
For the extremely reasonable $78 early-bird ticket price you also get access to all MASS MoCA galleries, exhibits and parking. Wilco will also be curating some of the exhibits including a Glenn Kotche-led drum and percussion workshop, film and video installations, Nels Cline showing off his guitar pedals, a concert-poster silk screening demonstration and workshops with guitar makers. Tickets go onsale on Friday at 10AM EDT through Front Gate Ticketing. This will be an all in affair as no single day tickets will be available.
Wilco is currently putting the finishing touches on the show on the Orpheum which you can stream through the WilcoWorld Roadcase. You’ll also be able to stream tomorrow night’s show from New Hampshire.
