I was front row for the whole jam this year and thought the energy was great the whole show through; grace potter is worth mentioning for a very nice set with mike barnes eventually joining in on guitar. Set of the night for me might've been stockholme syndrome, which was truly rocking. if you're going to download this show i'd recomend getting either the rdunn schoeps Mk4 recordings or the FOB (especially for the stockholm syndrome, mule and frampton sets which were good and loud and which the crowd quieted down for.) Muletaper's recordings are certainly perfectly fine but robbie seems to have a better ear for levels and the FOBs are just very good full spectrum recordings for the louder sets.

My friend Eric had this to say about it: "Jason Isbell - really enjoyed his set, first time I've seen him sans DBT. Solid song writing, very different from Truckers Southern Rock. Audley Freed joined in on a song or 2."

I saw Hornsby play a Christmas show before (12/6/97 Seattle -- I've never come across a tape of it) and he did the same kind of thing, teasing Christmas tunes throughout. He closed out the set with The Valley Road -> The Christmas Song, and the only Christmas lyric he sang all night ended the show: "And though it's been said many times, many ways... Merry Christmas to you." Goose bumps, chills, all that good stuff.

btw, Jackson Browne's approach sounds completely consistent with what he's done his whole career. What's a better time to advocate peace than Christmas?

once again, despite some early criticism, it appears this year's christmas jam via warren and friends, sounds great.

thanks for the review HT. now, agreed with darren, some SS or media fire love would make the holiday.
