Good list Ace. Here's mine...top 5, as I'm getting old, less shows.

1- Stevie Wonder - Chastain Park Atlanta....tears were shed by many during this uplifting performance. White people danced like black people weren't watching(and laughing).

2- MMJ - 40 Watt Athens, GA (the prom)...unfortunately I didn't take anyone's prom dress off after the show, but it kicked the shit outta my prom in '92...One Big Holiday beats the hell outta Boyz II Men's "It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday".

3- Spam Allstars @ my wedding in Miami...hope my wife doesn't see this. I rank this 3rd only because I didn't get to devote my full attention to the band.

4- Wilco- Chastain Park Atlanta...despite the downpour, they delivered and made me forget I was soaked to the bone.

5- Band Of Horses - The Earl Atlanta

Oh and I have to throw in seeing 2 Wilco shows within a week or so of each other. First at Bonnaroo and then at the Hammerstein - definitely the best touring band out there.

Another great list. That Levon show was fantastic - worth every penny. I didn't know what to expect and left smiling from ear to ear. The Dr. John appearance put it over the top.

Here's some of my faves of the year -

The Hold Steady - 1/18 - Northsix - First time seeing them and they lived up to the hype as the best bar band around. Most of the audience ended up on the stage during the encore. I was impressed I caught them three more times this year.

M. Ward - 1/26 - Town Hall - Matt solo with a guest appearance by Connor Oberst during the encore.

Bright Eyes - 3/3 - Bowery Ballroom - Intimate setting, Connor primarily playing songs off his EP and yet to be released album, with a smattering of old material. M. Ward returns the favor with a lengthy sit-in.

Ollabelle - 4/16 - Banjo Jim's - Tiny bar in Alphabet City in front of about 100 people and the delivered a fantastic show of their throw back gospel-tinged roots music, which a handful of great Dead covers and one amazing take on Ain't No More Cane

Vampire Weekend - 10/18 - Other Music - In-store performance during CMJ. These guys lived up to the hype, looking forward to their show at Bowery in a few weeks.

New Pornographers - 10/24 - Webster Hall - The full New Porns line-up, two encores, fantastic indie-pop. Seeing these guys with Neko Case and Dan Bejar is really the only way to see them.

Phil & Friends - 11/5 - Nokia Theater - Monster second set with Ryan Adams - go and download this show.

And any of the 3 times I saw Dr. Dog this year, go see these guys it's the most fun you'll have seeing a band - I promise.
