Youk’s Hits For Kids: Unreleased Phish

Boston Red Sox first baseman Kevin Youkilis has put together a compilation for Rounder Records to benefit Hits For Kids foundation called Music Hits Home. The album, which comes out today, features unreleased tracks from the Dave Matthews Band, Staind, the Allman Brothers Band, HT faves Phish and others. We’re extremely excited to see that the Phish track Youk selected was the group’s cover of Foreplay/Longtime by Boston – a tune DaveO focused on for this week’s Cover Wars.

We’re not sure whether the Foreplay/Longtime used on the compilation is one of Phish’s bluegrass versions or the electric version from Great Woods ’99. We sure hope it’s the latter. Here’s the track listing…

Music Hits Home Track Listing:

1. Why I Am – Dave Matthews Band
2. Black Hearted Woman – The Allman Brothers
3. Never Be Your Baby – Will Dailey
4. Sweet Disposition – Lori McKenna
5. Right Away People – Entrain

  1. I saw Phish play foreplay/longtime at George Mason outside DC in ’94 and it was amazing. That show also saw the debut of Guyute, and a cheer from a girls soccer team. Twas mind blowing

  2. @Saul – I was at that show too, it was my first Phish show in fact. The Foreplay/Longtime was just the icing on the cake on that one that feature just about every Phish trick – tramps, vacuum solo during Purple Rain, that soccer chant – amazing night of music. It was actually the 2nd Guyute, it debuted the night before.

  3. hahaha Earnie and the Automatics. They’re a group fronted by Earnie Boch Jr, whose the biggest car salesman in Mass. He’s sort of a celeb for Massholes. But that’s pretty killer. Youk’s deff one of my favorite Sox. And Kudo’s Scotty for typing this up and keeping your natural hate for the Sox checked. As a participent in the rivalry, I know it’s not easy
