Currently in the studio working on a follow-up to 2003's "Quebec," quirky alt-rock duo Ween will hit the road this summer for a round of concert performances.
So far, Gene and Dean Ween--a.k.a. Mickey Melchiondo and Aaron Freeman--have mapped out about a dozen dates that launch in mid-July and stretch into early August, including two shows during which they'll open for The Flaming Lips. Details are included below.
As previously reported, the pair's plans also include an Aug. 4 set at this year's Lollapalooza festival in Chicago.
More dates are expected, including some East Coast outdoor gigs with The Flaming Lips, according to Ween's website.
In a recent message posted at the site, Melchiondo and Freeman said that they are currently in "full scale recording mode" at a 200-year-old stone farmhouse in Bucks County, PA.
"We have a huge batch of songs and we plan on keeping it going until the well runs dry so to speak," reads the message. "It's a little early to predict when, where, and how the new album will be released, but the music sounds great and it feels good to be back in our natural habitat--recording in a s---ty old farmhouse with a leaky roof and a rodent/insect infestation. And black mold. This is the most writing and recording we've done in many years and I can't wait for you guys to hear our new s---."
