15 Years Ago Today – Phish Ends 1.0 Era at Shoreline Ampitheatre (Watch “2001” From 10/7/00)

15 years ago today (10/7/15), Phish began their first extended hiatus following the conclusion of their fall 2000 tour at Shoreline Ampitheatre in Mountain View, CA. This concluded  the Phish 1.0 era that began upon the band’s formation at the University of Vermont in 1983.

With the pending extended break from touring, the pre-show music on 10/7/00 closed with The Rolling Stones’ “The Last Time” and the post-show music was The Beatles’ “Let it Be,” which followed a resounding live version of “You Enjoy Myself.” After the show, the crowd gave the crew a standing ovation as they packed the band’s gear, while the crew took pictures of the crowd.  The band would soon reunite for their first full live performance in over two years at Madison Square Garden to welcome 2003 in on 12/31/02, which launched the start of the Phish 2.0 era which would end a little over a year and a half later in Coventry VT.  Watch Phish perform “Also sprach Zarathustra” (2001),  pre-couch tour era  from the second set of that final 1.0 era show.
