30 Years Ago Today- Paul Simon Releases ‘Graceland’ LP (Watch “Under African Skies” Live ’87)

30 years ago today (8/25/86), Paul Simon released Graceland, his seventh solo studio album and most eclectic and culturally significant recording.  Blending African pop and American folk, along with help from South Africa’s Ladysmith Black Mambaz, Simon molded an album that still sparks with ingenuity today.  With not a blotch on the entire LP, standouts include: “The Boy In The Bubble,” “Graceland,” “Diamonds On The Soles Of Her Shoes” and “Under African, Skies.”  Graceland has sold 14 million copies worldwide and garnered both the Album and Song of the Year Grammy in 1987. Check out “Under African Skies” live in 1987.
