40 years ago today, The Runaways released their self titled debut LP.  Featuring Cherie Currie, Joan Jett and Lita Ford, the  band released four studio albums and one live set during its run. Among their best-known songs are “Cherry Bomb”, “Hollywood”, “Queens of Noise” and a cover version of the Velvet Underground’s “Rock & Roll”.  And yes, they were an all female group- something overly stated throughout their run, despite their musical prowess.
