Hiss Golden Messenger performs “Lateness of Dancers” for Yours Truly

North Carolina’s Hiss Golden Messenger had a big year in 2014, with their full-length album Lateness of Dancers garnering acclaim and making a number of year-end “best of” lists, including Glide’s own 20 Best Albums.

Over the summer Your Truly captured an intimate performance from Hiss Golden Messenger’s MC Taylor playing the title track off the album in the living room The Mother Hips’ Tim Bluhm and Nicki Bluhm of Nicki Bluhm and the Gramblers.

MC Taylor shared his own thoughts on the moment and performance:
“It’s strange what an outsider I feel like every time I visit San Francisco now, despite the fact that I spent almost ten years of my life there. I played this song for Yours Truly in the living room of my friends Tim and Nicki Bluhm in their Outer Sunset home. Out there on the edge of the ocean seemed like a fitting environment to play the title track from Lateness of Dancers, a song that, for one reason or another, I rarely play unless the mood hits me right.”

The full Hiss Golden Messenger band will be supporting Ben Howard on US dates in January before a February headlining tour in Europe.

Also, Southern Grammar, a new three-song collection from Hiss Golden Messenger featuring the previously unreleased “He Wrote The Book”, is out on 12-inch vinyl and digital February 3.
