SONG PREMIERE: Jeffrey Martin – “Dogs in the Daylight”

Portland-based Indie Folk musician Jeffrey Martin has spent the last few years gathering steam. Playing show after show around the Northwest and beyond, he has built a loyal local following that hangs on his every word.  His songwriting and unforgettable voice have earned him opening slots for the likes of Anais Mitchell, Sean Hayes, Frank Fairfield, Joe Pug, Jeffrey Foucault, and David Wilcox, and an invitation to perform at the NPR Mountain Stage New Song Contest in New York City in 2012.

After a self-released full-length and ep, Jeffrey has recently partnered with us here at Fluff and Gravy Records to prepare for a full length album on August 19. The album, titled Dogs in the Daylight, is an ambitious 15-track collection that is full of weight and intricacy. While the arrangements at first seem more dense than his previous self-released albums, complete with piano, bass, fiddle, drums, and even trumpet, the songs are still carried by Jeffrey’s voice and the sincerity of this songwriting – the very qualities that separate him from his peers. Jeffrey will be touring Regionally and Nationally through 2014 in support of the record.

Glide is excited to premiere the title track of Jeffrey Martin’s upcoming album! Check out this exclusive stream of “Dogs in the Daylight”

  1. There are plenty of ranters and screamers, American Idol wannabees and songwriters who slavishly follow the Nashville formula, but there are very, very few true poets with a guitar. Jeffrey Martin is one of those rare artists.
