The inaugural Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival made for a rousing late night set that highlighted the sold out weekend titled “PoWoW! A Live Superstar Mashup.” After a powerful set by Kendrick Lamar a day after he dropped his new record, Miguel along with Win Butler of Arcade Fire led an all star roster that included John Oates Kamasi Washington,The Meters’ George Porter, Jr. and Zigaboo Modeliste, Skrillex, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, world champion DJ and scratchmaster Chris Karns and Eric Krasno & Neal Evans of Soulive.
Of the many highights- Mac Miller came out to guest on Michael Jackson’s “Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough,” then Ben Lovett, Winston Marshall and Marcus Mumford from Mumford & Sons came out to sing The Clash’s “Rock the Casbah” with Butler, Miguel and Oates, and then Skrillex ran over from his stage as soon as his set ended to join Butler, Miguel, Mumford & Sons and Oates for a rousing cover of Earth Wind & Fire’s “Let’s Groove.” Glide will be providing more coverage of the festival as the week kicks off….
