30 Years Ago Today – Bob Dylan Releases Least Engaging LP Effort ‘Knocked Out Loaded’ (Listen “Brownsville Girl” Live ’86)

30 years ago today (7/14/86), Bob Dylan released what many consider his least engaging studio LP Knocked Out Loaded. In 1986 Dylan toured with Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers as his backup band and they ended up playing on several of the song on Knocked Out, but that still couldn’t save this effort. Except for 11-minute  “Brownsville Girl,” co-written with playwright Sam Shepard, the rest of the album filled with covers and uninspired originals goes down on the low rankings of Dylan efforts. Check out this rare live version of “Brownsville Girl” from ’86, that  althought Dylan leaves out the verses, it is still one of the few YouTube finds for Knocked Out Loaded tracks…
